This article contextualizes the life and work of the Hungarian-German writer Ödön von Horváth, focusing in particular the national-socialist education, which is the main theme of his novel Jugend ohne Gott (Being youth without God). The work, which integrates the German school curriculum, reveals, among others, how the Nazis implemented in the schools of the Third Reich and in their youth organizations, such as the Hitler Jugend ("Hitler Youth") and the Bund deutscher Mädel (the "League of German Girls"), their racial theories as well as their "Weltanschauung" (the Nazis' conception of the world).
